Grace Bermingham is an Irish soprano singer with a vast experience as a soloist and church singer. She required a website with a graphic appeal that suited the beauty of her singing and the setting it takes place in. We were happy to oblige, especially after listening to her astonishing and powerful rendition of ‘Panis Angelicus’ as well as a number of other hymns and classical pieces.

Grace Bermingham Soprano Singer
From the point of view of the user experience it was important to embed samples of Grace’s singing in a way that could be played straight from the page with the click of a mouse – waiting to download media files before playing them can be off-putting for the user and hence counter-productive for the site owner. We achieved this by embedding the mp3 files into a flash audio player which can be played immediately. We also did keyword research and SEO optimised the site filenames and page titles, keywords and descriptions to best reflect the terms that we knew people were actually using when searching the web.
The site was launched in August 2010 and we invite you to visit it at www.gracebermingham.com where you can check out Grace’s singing. We are sure you will find it as impressive as we do and will consider it a few minutes well spent.
Naomi Gardiner Solicitors have just launched a new website outlining their legal services which they provide to Greystones, Wicklow and the Greater Dublin area.
The website was built according to client specifications for colour and incorporates a wordpress blog. It also incorporates a number of on-site SEO techniques for better indexing by google. The site was launched on July 28th 2010 and one week later is already indexed on page 2 of google for ‘legal services wicklow’ and on page 1 for ‘legal services greystones’ as well as ranking for a host of other keywords.
This is an excellent start and we look forward to rolling out an SEO strategy over the coming 3 months to build upon this solid foundation. Our aims will be to a) continue up the rankings for the terms that are already ranking well; b) add more keywords through additional articles and blogging over the coming months and c) target more general keywords to tap more broadly into this competitive market.

The website is easy to navigate and outlines the most important areas of work that they undertake while also providing a list with accompanying explanation of their other practice areas. This list is SEO optimised and linked to from the front page.
Naomi Gardiner Solicitors were a pleasure to work with and we look forward to continuing our relationship with them as they build up their online presence.

Welcome to the Webeffects web design and SEO blog. We hope to showcase some of the latest news from google, bing and other search engines as well as bring our readers up to speed on the most effective contemporary techniques for search engine optimisation.
Website design is also about attractive layout, usability and ‘visitor conversions’. Visitor conversions can mean many things – an online sale, a signup for a newsletter or just a phone call upon visiting your site. It is imperative when designers talk to their clients that they get a very good idea of who the site is aimed at and what the client wants to achieve with the website. Very often it is up to the web designer to use their experience and knowledge of the net to guide the client in this process since a lot of clients are not initially too clear themselves on what they can achieve online. A good web designer with a thorough knowledge of visitor behaviour, trends, design possibilities and search engine optimisation can be an invaluable partner for a business in setting out and achieving realistic aims which add to their bottom line.
The same goes for any online endeavour not just businesses; whatever you want to achieve or whatever your reason for going online – artistic, educational, political, commercial etc. – a knowledgeable professional with experience of the web can be invaluable.
This blog is here to bring some of that support and education and hopefully to create discussions that will help us all to utilise this amazing technology – the web – to the very best of its potential.
